After a year of no costumes, no partying and no Halloween, it is safe to say this year will be bigger and better than ever.
The pandemic has allowed us to accumulate an extra year's worth of outfit ideas in preparation for the return of Halloween – I know I started planning ahead from the moment I saw a single orange leaf on the trees.
But Halloween doesn't have to be expensive, in fact, some of the best costumes are the simplest and cheapest to make. One look at Pinterest or TikTok, and a plethora of easy and cost-effective costumes will be at your fingertips. Here are some of the easiest costumes, which I predict we will see frequently this spooky season.
Fairy
This costume has the potential to be the most iconic and popular Halloween costume this year. It’s a very low maintenance idea, with fairy wings being the only purchase needed. They are affordable and easy to find, making this an extremely cost-effective choice. The simplicity means you can wear your normal going out clothes, throw on the wings, and you're good to go.
Pirate
One of my costume ideas, which has rose to popularity on social media, is a pirate. It's a fairly simple DIY costume, consisting of a white flowy outfit, a black corset, a bandana and a pirate sword. I spent only £4 to assemble this whole outfit, as I already owned the majority of the items. Of course, you can go all out with additional accessories – like belly chains, leg charms and fishnets – but even without these, it'll be just as effective.
Dark/light angel duo
Why wouldn't you want to dress up with your best friend? Going as dark and light angels is one of the most iconic, yet simplest, looks to recreate. All it requires is wearing white and black outfits, with matching angel wings. You could even switch it up by dressing as devils instead.
Cupid
A new idea has been thrown into the mix on social media this year. Cupid is a super cute and unique costume idea and, again, can be mostly assembled with things you own at home. You'll only need to purchase a bow and arrow, and some white angel wings. For the rest, all you need is red and white garments – you could even print out some red love hearts and assemble them to a headband.
Everyone at Liberty Belle Magazine wishes you a happy Halloween – have fun and stay safe!
